The draw for the first round of the DFB-Pokal has been made, the fixtures for the 2023/24 Bundesliga season have been released and the Werder Bremen squad is about to return for pre-season. The players will take part in performance diagnostic tests on Monday and Tuesday (3rd & 4th July), before returning to the training ground on Wednesday (5th June, 14:30 CEST).

As well as undergoing performance diagnostic tests in cooperation with the Paracelsus-Klinik in Bremen, the players will also take part in photoshoots. On top of last year’s squad regulars, loan returnees Nicolai Rapp, Justin Njinmah, Nick Woltemade, Oliver Burke and new signing Dawid Kownacki are expected to be present at the wohninvest WESERSTADION. Niclas Füllkrug, Naby Keïta, Ilia Gruev, Jiri Pavlenka and Romano Schmid, who were all away on international duty, are expected to return to team training on Wednesday, 12 July.

Pre season schedule:

3rd/4th July: Performance diagnostic tests

5th July, 14.30 CEST: Training begins

9th July, 15:30 CEST: Friendly vs. SV Drochtersen/Assel (Verden)

16th July, 15:00 CEST: Friendly vs. VfB Oldenburg (Westerstede)

19th July - 29th July: Training camp in Zillertal

12th August, 15:30 CEST: 1st round of DFB-Pokal vs. Viktoria Köln

18th August, 20:30 CEST: SV Werder Bremen vs. FC Bayern München
