At a sold-out Weserstadion, SV Werder Bremen enjoyed a dominant performance against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday evening. The Green-Whites had already made it 4-0 at the break, and by the end, it was a clear 5-1 win and the first home win of the season. "Overall, it was a very strong performance, we were as good as perfect today,” said head coach Ole Werner after the game.

WERDER.DE has collected the reactions from Ole Werner, Niclas Füllkrug, Marvin Ducksch, Mitchell Weiser and Niklas Stark:

On the match:

Niclas Füllkrug: "We got off to an incredible start in the first half. There was an incredible presence from u, we won the important duels all over the pitch, kept possession or cleared it out from the back. In addition, we were all ice-cold in front of goal. Everyone deserved our win today."

Mitchell Weiser: "We were successful in many aspects. Also, in the first half a lot fell our way. Maybe a bit of luck, but definitely a brilliant first half from us.”

Ole Werner: "The aggressiveness we had against the ball was decisive today, and it was how we found our way into the game. In the second half, we were also a little lucky that Gladbach didn't score earlier and made the game a little more uncomfortable. All in all it was very strong performance, we were as good as perfect today."

Niklas Stark: "Our pressure from the back was good, and we were strong up top. We made the correct calls very often, which is why we had good control over the game."

Marvin Ducksch: "We started with a lot of energy against this strong team. We were expecting them to play out from the back sometimes, because they like to pass out of situations. We were on the lookout for that, and struck inside 13 minutes perfectly. We deserved to win by the scoreline we did."

On Mitchell Weiser's form and his first goal:

Mitchell Weiser: "A goal like that always feels good, even if we already had a comfortable advantage at the point. But of course, I was always pleased to score.

Marvin Ducksch: "Mitchell knows the standing he has in the team. He isn’t spoken about much externally, but within the team we all know what he does. He is indispensable. His goal aside, he played an outstanding game again today He wanted to play again. He's been doing that for a year now, and you can just see his qualities. It's really fun to train with him, he always makes us smile. You just need someone like that."

Ole Werner: "I'm glad that Mitch is here. He showed his importance in the final part of last season, and as a footballer he’s got exceptional technique and great awareness.

On Füllkrug's chances with the national team:

Niclas Füllkrug: "That’s for others to judge. I think I'm doing very well at the moment, but it’s a team game.  I'm part of my team and try to perform well for them. A lot of things are working out for me right now, and I'm happy about that because I’ve been working hard for it."

Mitchell Weiser: "Fülle has actually been in outstanding form since last year. Duckschi and Fülle are both very important for us up front, and I think we are in a great position already there. I'm happy for the boys, as well as for Duckschi, who did a great job today."

Marvin Ducksch: "Füllkrug works hard, and hard work is rewarded. We saw that already last year, and the same thing is happening now. He is in a very good shape, physically too, he’s healthy. His body is holding up well, and right now you can see the quality he has to offer. It's a lot of fun to play with him. He gets into those duels so I don’t have to! If he carries on like this, you can’t avoid the conversation about taking him to the World Cup."

Ole Werner: "He Is putting in some great shifts at the moment, and he is a very complete player. He is positively obsessed, sometimes on the edge, but he always just absolutely wants to win games. He focuses on the areas that he can influence. For me, that is also the right approach."

Niklas Stark: "He is in very good shape. The Germany national team has got some really good technical players, but in terms of a pure number nine, you can't look past Fülle."
