Fans: What does the number 32 mean to you?
Marco Friedl: "I wore the number 34 at Bayern and wanted to have that number here too, initially, but it was taken. 32 was the nearest free number, so I decided to take it. There was also then a moment where I considered switching to 34 after all, but starting my chapter with Werder with 32 fits well and I feel happy with the number. It will stay."
Fans: Did you enjoy the Werder documentary?
Marco Friedl: "We've also only seen the first two episodes so far. The first episode is more of an introduction, there’s not much happening. But the second episode I found particularly awesome, and I'm really looking forward to the other episodes."
Fans: What is your favourite NFL team?
Marco Friedl: "The Green Bay Packers, although my favourite player Davante Adams just got traded to the Raiders. Now I don’t know if I have to become a Raiders fan, because he is my absolute favourite player (laughs). But back when the Packers had Rodgers and Adams was when I started watching NFL, and that’s when I liked it the most. But perhaps I have to switch now given my favourite player has gone somewhere else."
Fans: And who’s going to win the Super Bowl?
Marco Friedl: "That’s tough to say, because we’ve got to see what happens in the regular season. But I think the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will certainly be around the top of the standings again. The Chiefs are also in with a very good shout. If I had to give a prediction, then I’d say that the Chiefs will win the Super Bowl this year."
Fans: What is your favourite food?
Marco Friedl: "There are a few. During the week, we always eat here with food from our chef Jens Vaassen, and I like various dishes. But my favourite dish is my mother’s Käsespätzle. She makes it a little bit differently to how others do. If I am at home or my mother is here in Bremen, then we always like having Käsespätzle. I hope I get to have it again soon!"
