I agree to Ammerlandbremer and would recommend a walk if the weather is OK.

There are two ways to get to the stadium:
    - a) through the "Viertel" as recommended by Ammerlandbremer
    - b) along the river Weser. In general it is nice to walk along the river Weser and approach the stadium from there, but for the derby, there is more police around than for other matches, and they try to separate the fans, especially when you get close to the stadium. So maybe you'd rather choose the "Viertel" because it is more relaxing.

If you have some spare time:
    - walk through the city centre, including the Boettcherstraße (access is opposite the town hall) and the Schnoor-Viertel (check out on Google maps, the main street is called "Schnoor") to see the tiny streets and old houses. There is a micro brewery in the Schnoorviertel - http://www.grebhansbier.com/ - if that's of interest (just one tiny room, they sell their own beer plus beers from microbreweries all over the world)
    - "Schlachte" (on the river Weser), a promenade with a good choice of pubs and Restaurants

I can't recommend a specific pub or restaurant, but definitely before and after the match the corner where the Amadeus is is good because it is crowded with fans and very lively.
