The documentary.
The soundtrack.
On vinyl.
For the Werder documentary A Year in the Second League, the North German film composer Bene Höyns recorded his own music for almost every scene of the 230 minutes.
From this extraordinary pool of musical themes, he selected and produced 13 key pieces from the documentary for this vinyl soundtrack LP.
The palette of sounds ranges from the goosebump moment of the intro theme, to driving, pulsating pieces that acoustically accompany sports and drama, to sustained and highly emotional moments.
Bene Höyns composed all the pieces and recorded them himself with numerous instruments.
A real listening pleasure for film music fans, as known from modern film composers such as Clint Mansell, Cliff Martinez, John Murphy or the post-rock band Mogwai.
For fans of Werder Bremen, the soundtrack is an acoustic trip to a season that no screenwriter could have dreamed up, pure head cinema with song titles like "The Ugly Birds", "The Fans", "Scandal" or "The Eternal Underdog".
And for vinyl fans, the LP is a noble and unique collector's item in a collector's edition of only 499 copies, pressed on white vinyl at Pallas in Diepholz.
