Marco Friedl and Johannes Eggestein have been chosen to represent their nations’ U21s sides after some impressive performances over the last few weeks. Josh Sargent will be hoping to make another appearance for the USA’s senior team.

Werder defender Marco Friedl made his last two appearances for the Austria U21s in European Championship qualifying just over a month ago, playing the full 90 minutes against Andorra and Albania. The 21-year-old will now be hoping for two more caps against Turkey and England. Romano Schmid, who is currently on loan at Wolfsberg, has also been named in the squad. The midfielder made his debut for Werner Gregoritsch’s side last October.

Johannes Eggestein can celebrate another call up to the Germnay U21s. He recently captained Stefan Kuntz’s newly-formed team “with pride.” He and his teammates will face Bosnia and Herzegovania and Belgium in Euros qualifying.

Josh Sargent’s has also been rewarded for his recent good performances. The 19-year-old forward set up Marco Friedl’s equaliser against BVB at the weekend. He has made five appearances for Werder so far this season and has found the back of the net once. Matches against Cuba and Canada await Sargent and the USA next week.

Having played his first three Bundesliga games, Benjamin Goller may also be involved in international action next week. The 20-year-old’s last international appearance came in March. He will line up against Poland and Switzerland with his team.
