Austria youth international Marco Friedl of Bayern München will join SV Werder Bremen on loan until the 30th June 2019. Managing director Frank Baumann announced the deal on Thursday afternoon.
"Marco is a young player with qualities at centre back and at fullback. He took the first steps of his professional career at Bayern. Now, he has come to Werder with the aim of gaining more experience and developing as a player. We are pleased to have acquired him," explained Frank Baumann.
"Despite currently battling against relegation, Werder are a club rich in tradition. In Austria in particular, Werder are very well known through players like Zlatko Junuzovic, Florian Kainz, Marco Arnautovic and even Andreas Herzog. I am happy to now be part of this team for the next year and a half," said Marco Friedl.
Marco Friedl learnt to play football at SV Kirchbichl and after playing for FC Kufstein, he made his way into the Bayern München academy in 2008. This season, the 19-year-old has made an appearance for Bayern’s first team in both the Champions League and the Bundesliga.
