+++ Outstanding performance: with 15 goals and seven assists, Max Kruse was one of the most important and successful men for Werder on the field last season. Kruse was voted as the Werder fans’ Volkswagen “Man of the Match” on five occasions and the 29-year-old was also the top choice many times by various elements of the media. It is no surprise that the fans have now chosen him as their Volkswagen “Player of the Season”. Kruse was officially given his award on the Werder fan day. +++

+++ “An indescribable feeling”: Former Werder man Thorsten Legat has been known to be very vocal since calling it a day on his career. The European Cup winner visited the Werder fans day and was keen to reminisce about the good old days in his speech. “It is an indescribable feeling. Werder is not just a family, and one which is unique at that, it is a whole world. I will never forget it as long as I live,” said Legat. “When I first moved to Bremen, I thought that the world was going to come to an end being from the Ruhr but I have never regretted it.” The 48-year-old was delighted to be able to be with the club for their celebrations. “To come back after 25 years and to still be celebrated by the fans just says it all.” +++

+++ Return after eight years: Aymen Abdennour only wore the Werder shirt for six months but the Green-Whites still have fond memories of the Tunisian. After returning to the Weser with Valencia, the defender took to Instagram to thank the club. “I really enjoyed playing against my former team in a friendly after eight years. All the best with the coming season and good luck. Thanks very much for your hospitality,” said Abdennour. +++
