SV Werder Bremen have today agreed to terminate Torsten Frings' contract, this was confirmed by Werder’s sporting director Frank Baumann. Frings was once part of Viktor Skripnik’s coaching staff, which was in charge of the SVW coaching team from October 2014 until September 2016.
“Torsten came to us and asked for his contract to be terminated at short notice. Needless to say, we didn’t want to deny him of the chance of becoming the head coach of another team. Torsten has been with us completing a training programme and over the last few years has gained valuable experience as part of the U23s and senior team’s coaching staff, which he can combine with the knowledge he earned after a long and successful playing career,” noted Baumann. “We have confidence in him and wish him all the best in his new adventure, as long as he doesn’t pick up points against Werder and finishes behind us in the table.”
