Claudio Pizarro will wear SV Werder Bremen colours for at least one more year! The greatest goalscorer in the club’s history has signed a new contract with the Green Whites until 30/06/17. “I’m feeling very good and I am happy to be able to play for this special club for one more season. It was a difficult, but also really great year for me. I hope that we can have a better season next year, for the fans and for the whole city. I want to give my all for that,” the 37-year-old told WERDER.TV.

"We are very happy that Claudio, as a leading player in the squad and with all his experience and unique goalscoring ability, will be a part of the team next season," said a delighted Thomas Eichin following the contract extension.

With 14 Bundesliga goals, Pizarro is Werder’s top goalscorer this season. He also scored twice in the DFB Cup. Overall, the Peruvian has scored 103 goals in 187 appearances for Werder in the Bundesliga and no player in the club's history has scored more than him. 2016/17 will be his eighth season as an SV Werder player.
