Dominik Becker, who has trained regularly with the first team of late and was in the matchday squad for the league game against Jahn Regensburg, will go to 1. FC Saarbrücken on loan. The loan move to the team currently sitting in fifth place in the third division will last until the 30th June 2023. The deal was agreed upon by those in charge at Werder Bremen and the Saarland club. Meanwhile, the 22-year-old has signed a contract extension with the Green-Whites.
“We saw the move to the third division as the right step in Dominik’s development. He can improve to a higher level there than he can in the Regionalliga Nord. He has already shown the potential he has when he has been involved in first team training. Now it is time for his next step,” said Clemens Fritz, head of scouting and professional football at Werder.
The defender moved to Werder Bremen in the summer of 2019 from the 1. FC Köln U19s. The Germany youth team player has played 33 times for the Werder U23s in the Regionalliga Nord.
