The date is finally set. Werder legend Claudio Pizarro finally has the chance to say goodbye to the fans at the wohinvest WESERSTADION. On Saturday 24th September 2022, Werder Bremen will host a testimonial for the club’s most prolific goal-scorer. Tickets for the match will go online on 29th June at 11am.
“Piza” will get the chance to lace up his boots and play 90 minutes at the Osterdeich one final time. The 43-year-old will feature for FC Bayern, who will be travelling with a team of legends, then for an international team made up of friends and former colleagues from Peru, and then of course in the green and white of Werder Bremen. It will be a footballing feast for all those who want to celebrate his great career and say goodbye to a legend. #AdiosPiza.
Pizarro originally joined Werder Bremen from Alianza Lima for the 1999/00 season and had a total of four spells at the club. After spells with FC Bayern, Chelsea and FC Köln, he returned to Werder in 2018 and hung up his boots in 2020. Pizarro, who has 489 Bundesliga appearances and 85 Peru caps to his name, was denied a testimonial back in 2020 because of the Coronavirus pandemic, but the legend finally has the chance to say farewell to his home fans in September.
