Shortly after Werder’s opening goal in Ingolstadt, captain Ömer Toprak was forced off with an injury. The defender had already been struggling with calf problems: "After he felt more discomfort during the game he came straight off. He’s since been looked at and nothing is broken," reported head coach Markus Anfang at the post-match press conference.

Whether the Werder captain will be out of action and, if yes, how long, is not yet clear. Closer examinations will follow to try and reach a diagnosis, confirmed Anfang: "It was good that he came straight off before anything else happened. We will need to wait and see before assessing the situation," he added.
