Josh Sargent will leave SV Werder Bremen to join promoted Premier League side Norwich City, after the two clubs reached an agreement for the transfer of the striker.
"Josh had let us know that he would like to move to England. Our negotiations with Norwich picked up speed on Thursday evening thereby allowing us to reach an agreement quickly, as they met our conditions. Of course it was disappointing for us that Josh decided not to play in the Pokal because other arrangements had been made. Even if Josh's departure is tough for us from a sporting perspective, the timing of the transfer comes at a crucial time for us and is an important contributor to our financial consolidation. We could have sold Josh a few weeks ago already, but would have recieved a far lower fee then. We wish Josh all the best for the future," said Frank Baumann, Werder's sporting director.
Josh Sargent looks back positively on his time in Bremen. "The club and the city were a large part of my life and there will always be a special spot in my heart for Bremen. I made my professional debut here in front of the Werder fans, which I will never forget. I would like to say thank you to all of you, for being part of my journey," said Sargent about his time with the Green-Whites.
Joshua Sargent joined Werder in early 2018 and went on to make 83 competitive appearances for the first team, scoring 15 goals. Sargent featured in 12 games for the Werder U23s, netting seven times.
