SV Werder Bremen have again retained a young talent, with Nick Woltemade signing a contract extension at Werder with effect from 1st July 2021. As agreed with SVW’s sporting director Frank Baumann, the 18-year-old will continue to develop his young career at Osterdeich with the Green-Whites.
“We’re very happy that Nick will continue his journey as a footballer at Werder. Throughout the talks over the past few months, Nick has made it clear that the development of the club and of him as a player are the main factors in his decision. We at Werder see a lot of potential in him to establish himself at the club and in the Bundesliga,” explained Frank Baumann.
Florian Kohfeldt also expressed his delight that the 18-year-old has committed his future to the Green-Whites. “We count Nick as one of our most promising talents. He’s a Bremen boy and has come through the ranks at Werder. He has good technique and game sense, and is also outstanding at dribbling at pace. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with him so that he can maximise his talent and potential.”
Nick Woltemade is also optimistic and ready to get started on his future. “I'm looking forward to continuing my career with Werder in the Bundesliga. My main goal continues to be to develop and push to get into the starting XI. I want to contribute to Werder’s success with good performances.”
The youth international, who has played for Werder Bremen since 2010, is the youngest player to make a Bundesliga appearance in the Green-Whites’ history. So far, the 18-year-old has made eleven appearances in the Bundesliga and three appearances in the DFB-Pokal for Florian Kohfeldt’s team.
