It was 15 minutes that ultimately lost the match for the Green-Whites. Werder were defeated 3-1 in the capital, as the seven-match losing streak saw the relegation zone getting ever-closer to SVW. Head coach Florian Kohfeldt took responsibility for the result following the final whistle. “I take full responsibility and hold up my hands. But the first 15 minutes after half time were awful from us. These are experienced Bundesliga professionals on the pitch, and we simply cannot be making these mistakes.” Maximilian Eggestein was in agreement with the coach: “We gave away the goals far too easily. We lost the game in the space of 15 minutes.”

On the game:

Niklas Moisander: “The game was lost inside 15 minutes. We started the match well in the first half and won a lot of our duels. but the second half was just not good at all. Things like this cannot keep happening to us.”

Maximilian Eggestein: “It's very frustrating because we played quite well in the first half. It was an even game up until the break, but the start of the second half was terrible. We gave away the goals far too easily. We lost the game in the space of 15 minutes.”

Florian Kohfeldt: “We held our own in the first half and both teams cancelled each other out. We weren't great going forwards though, and then we had that 15 minutes which is completely inexplicable. We gave it our all towards the end, but it was a bad performance overall. In the end, we deserved to lose and that is just not acceptable in our current situation.”

On the relegation battle:

Niklas Moisander: “We're in a tough spot after seven defeats in a row. But we are ready for the relegation battle. We have to stand up to the fight individually and as a team. We showed that last year and we can do it again this year.”

Maximilian Eggestein: “Confidence is low after seven consecutive losses, there's no doubt about that. However, there are still three games to go and we have to press on. It's a completely different situation to last season, but of course it helps that we've been through this before. We had hoped it wouldn't come to a relegation battle but that's the situation we find ourselves in and we cannot give up.”

Florian Kohfeldt: “We still have three games left in which we can pick up points. This season our destiny is in our own hands. We’re one point ahead of Köln and a point above the drop zone. However, it's obvious that we need to change our performance as soon as possible otherwise we have no chance. I have a close attachment to this club and I can feel the confidence is there. We just have to harness it and use it to ensure that Werder Bremen are a Bundesliga team next season. We know that we are in a dangerous situation.”
