Assistant coach Tim Borowski has informed sporting director Frank Baumann that he will not seek to renew his contract with SV Werder Bremen.
"We were saddened to hear of Boro's decison. We hold him in high esteem, both as a coach and as a person, and would have liked to have continue working with him. However, we will of course respect his decision and wish him all the best for the future," said Baumann.
Borowski, a former Germany international, made the move from the Werder academy to the first team, with whom he won the double in 2004. He had been part of the club's first-team coaching staff since 2017. "Based on recent developments and happenings over the last weeks, I have made the difficult decision to not renew my contract with Werder. I would like to thank all the employees at the club, as well as the fans, for all the wonderful memories and wish the new coaching staff and the club all the best for an immediate return," said Borowski.
