Werder players who were away on international duty are returning back to Bremen and preparations for the game against VfB Stuttgart are getting underway. Head coach Florian Kohfeldt has an almost full squad to choose from for the trip to Baden-Württemberg, with only Milos Veljkovic training individually this week.
“Milos still has a thigh problem,” explained Clemens Fritz on Wednesday morning. “The situation is better than it was in terms of pain, however there’s still a big question mark over whether he’ll be available on Sunday,” reported Fritz. Veljkovic returned from international duty early, but no structural damage has been diagnosed. There are no new injury concerns with the rest of the squad, who should all be fit for the upcoming match according to Fritz.

Ilia Gruev, who was away with Bulgaria U21s, and Josh Sargent were both back in training on Wednesday. Romano Schmid was using the day for rest and recovery after featuring for Austria U21s on Tuesday evening.
Michael Zetterer also made his comeback to team training at Osterdeich. The goalkeeper has completed his rehabilitation work and joined up with the team session on Wednesday morning.
