Preseason training is just around the corner: On Monday, 3 August 2020, Werder Bremen will begin preparations for next season. The first two days will consist of the procedural performance tests, before Florian Kohfeldt’s men take to the training pitch on Wednesday, 5 August. The session will, however, take place behind closed doors.
"The current hygiene provisions mean that for the time being we can only train without spectators. We will continue to train in the wohninvest WESERSTADION or on ‘stadium pitch 11’. However, over the coming weeks, we will be following the developments surrounding corona regulations and hope to welcome fans back to watch training sessions over the course of preseason," explained Frank Baumann, sporting director.
Soon after preseason training begins in Bremen, the squad will travel to the camp in Zillertal, where they will continue preparations from 15 – 25 August. Around three weeks later, the new season is set to start with the first round of the DFB-Pokal (11-14 September 2020). The first Bundesliga matchday is scheduled for the weekend commencing 18 September.
