SV Werder Bremen will be releasing nine players for international duty, as Jiri Pavlenka, Joshua Sargent, Romano Schmid, Marco Friedl, Ludwig Augustinsson, Milot Rashica, Milos Veljcovic, Ilia Gruev and Yuya Osako will all be joining up with their respective national teams.

Germany’s Robert Koch Institute (RKI) has downgraded the United Kingdom to a high-incidence area. Therefore, Werder players who must travel to the UK to play will not have to quarantine upon their return. The player will, however, have to present a negative Covid-19 test. Through this change, nearly all Werder players will be able to play every game for their sides. Two Green-Whites will face off this March, as Ludwig Augustinsson and Sweden face Milot Rashica and Kosovo on Sunday (20:45 CET, in Pristina).

Jiri Pavlenka is the only player who will have to miss a match. The RKI has deemed the Czech Republic as an area of variant concern, meaning the goalkeeper will not be able to take part in the World Cup qualifier against Belgium in Prague. He will travel directly from the game against Estonia in Lublin to Wales, via Bremen.
