SV Werder Bremen have signed another talented youth international for the first team. The 19-year-old will make the move up north from 1. FSV Mainz 05’s U19s side.
“We are pleased that Oscar chose us despite having other offers. He’s a young player who has played for Germany’s youth sides since U16s. He’s an attacking winger, who will take in part in pre-season with the first team. We’ll then see if he will stay with the first team or carry on his development with the U23s,” explained Frank Baumann, Werder’s sporting director.
Oscar Schönfelder is optimistic ahead of his new move: “Werder is a traditional club with amazing fans and the family environment here made a real impression on me. These surroundings will allow me to develop as a young player. I’m looking forward to the challenge!”
Oscar Schönfelder has been in Mainz’s academy since 2013 and has played 23 youth internationals for various Germany youth sides.
