Stefanos Kapino will be wearing the SV Werder Bremen kit for the foreseeable future. The 25-year-old extended his contract with the club during the training camp in Zillertal.
“For a goalkeeper of his quality it’s definitely not easy for him to not be getting regular playing time. During last season especially, he proved that he is a reliable figure when it matters. That’s why we’re so excited that he’s extended his contract with us,” said Werder’s sporting director Frank Baumann.
Coach Florian Kohfeldt is also very convinced of Werder’s number 27: “I can only reiterate my appreciation of him once again. Stefanos is a great asset for our team. He gives everything in every training session and away from the pitch he also brings elements to the team that we don’t want to lose.”
Similarly praising words came from goalkeeping coach Christian Vander: “Kapi has had a very good development since he came to us last summer. You can see that he wants to improve in each and every training session. I’m really excited that he will be in our goalkeeping team for a long time.”
“I’m very happy that I will continue to be part of the Werder family and am really looking forward to continue working with the coaches at this club. The contract extension is, for me, a sign of trust in my work. The club and I both want success and I will do everything I can to achieve that,” explained the Greek shotstopper.
Stefanos Kapino moved from Nottingham Forest to werder Bremen last summer. He made his debut for Werder in April during a 2-1 win over SC Freiburg, having come on at half-time for the injured Jiri Pavlenka.
