The Werder players will be spending Friday night at home instead of on the pitch against Borussia
Mönchengladbach. Davie Selke, Ludwig Augustinsson & Co. will be wearing a special shirt, however, to reinforce the #StayAtHome motto, which is so important during the coronavirus crisis.
Together with main club sponsor WIESENHOF, Werder want to send out a clear message to society: Stay at home and prevent further spreading of the coronavirus! The hashtag #StayAtHome has replaced the WIESENHOF lettering on the club’s shirt for this matchday. The Werder players will post pictures from home in these special shirts during when the game should have taken place, to remind people of this important message.
“Everybody knows how important it is to stay at home so that we can help the fight against the coronavirus,” explained Peter Wesjohann (chairman of the board at PHW-Gruppe).
The Werder fans can also do their bit by buying a 2019/20 shirt with the special #StayAtHome printing at a reduced price of 44,95€ from the online shop. A child’s shirt costs 35,95€. The shirts can also be personalised with a player’s name or a custom name. 5€ from the sale of every shirt will be donated to the “Verein für Innere Mission in Bremen.”
