Kevin Möhwald, who missed Werder’s Bundesliga match against FC Augsburg, will have a knee operation on Monday. The exact length of the recovery period will only become clear in the week after the operation, but the 26-year-old midfielder will definitely be out of action for the remainder of this half of the season.
Meanwhile, Werder’s training group was split in two on Friday. While some players were put to work in the gym, the rest were out on the pitch. Captain Niklas Moisander had to finish the pitch session early as a precaution for a minor injury.
There is some good news in the form Benjamin Goller, at least. The 20-year-old full-back missed most of preseason but made his comeback in the friendly match against Hannover 96. He coped well with the 60 minutes he played and with training on Friday.
