Theodor Gebre Selassie has extended his contract at SV Werder Bremen after agreeing terms with sporting director Frank Baumann.
“Theo has been a key part of our squad for many years. His vast experience makes him an important factor in the cohesion and success of the team not just on the pitch, but in and around the dressing room aswell,” said Frank Baumann.
Head coach Florian Kohfeldt is also looking forward to continuing his relationships with the Czech defender: “I hold Theo in very high regard, not just as a footballer but as a person aswell. He’s a real team player and gives everything for the team, which he has shown once again this season. I’m very happy that he will continue to be a part of our team going forward.”
“I’ve always emphasised how much I wanted to continue to play for Werder and I’m happy that we’ve come to such a quick agreement. It’s also very important for my family. Now I’m just looking forward to the upcoming games and playing in front of our fans. My goal is to once again play European football here at Werder,” Gebre Selassie stated.
The fullback has played for the Green-Whites since back in 2012 when he made the switch from Slovan Liberec, making 220 Bundesliga appearances and scoring 19 goals during his time at the club.
