Werder will have to do without Stefanos Kapino for several months after he picked up a tendon injury at the start of the training camp. “Unfortunately, following a MRI scan, the injury is more serious than originally thought. Kapi will be out for around 3 months before he can return to training” announced Werder’s Head Coach Florian Kohfeldt.

The Green-White’s will therefore go into the first few weeks of the season with Jiri Pavlenka and Luca Plogmann, whilst Jaroslav Drobny is expected to return to training next week. “We’re prepared for this situation, however if another Keeper were to suffer a long-term injury we would have to reassess,” commented Werder’s managing director Frank Baumann.
