The Werder players will be spending Friday night at home instead of on the pitch against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Davie Selke, Ludwig Augustinsson & Co. will be wearing a special shirt, however, to reinforce the #StayAtHome motto, which is so important during the coronavirus crisis.

Ömer Toprak suffers ankle injury

Ömer Toprak arrived at the wohninveset WESERSTADION on Tuesday on crutches and wearing a protective boot. SV Werder Bremen’s upcoming home game against Bayer 04 Leverkusen has been cancelled, Bremen’s senator of home affairs Ulrich Mäuerer decided on Friday. “It feels like a loss”

An emphatic start to the game wasn’t enough in the end for Werder to pick up their first win in six Bundesliga matches. Despite the early 2-0 lead, Florian Kohfeldt’s side were unable to keep up their performance from the first 20 minutes for the rest of the game. “It feels like a defeat.
