Werder’s newly signed goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald has re-familiarised himself with his former workplace on Monday.

+++ Wiedwald begins training: Werder’s newly signed goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald has re-familiarised himself with his former workplace on Monday. Even before the official start of pre-season training (on Wednesday, 1st July), the 25-year-old has already had a training session with goalkeeping coach Christian Vander. Wiedwald, who was at Werder at youth and first-team level from 1999 until 2011, also went for a voluntary session in the weights room. The man from Thedinghausen is going into the new season full of anticipation. +++

+++ Out at the semis: Jannik Vestergaard and the Denmark U21s are out of the European U21 Championship after losing to Sweden on Saturday. The Danes suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of their Scandinavian neighbours. And that was despite Werder’s new signing Anthony Ujah wishing the defensive giant good luck via Twitter. The Nigerian tweeted his future teammate before the game saying: “Good luck big man”. With elimination from the Euros, Vestergaard is now the final Werder player to begin his summer holidays, but he is expected back at Werder’s training ground on 10th July. +++

+++ Tickets on sale: Watch out Werder fans! Applications for tickets are now open for the first four home games and all away game of the first half of the new 2015/16 Bundesliga season. Next Sunday, 5th July, is the deadline for applications to the home games against Schalke 04 (15th/16th August), Champions League participants Borussia Mönchengladbach (28th-30th August), Bundesliga newcomers Ingolstadt (18th-20th September) and Bayer 04 Leverkusen (25th-27th September). The DFL will in the next weeks publish the detailed plan of the first Bundesliga games with exact kick-off times. +++

+++ Farewell, “Baumi”: Frank Baumann, Werder’s director of first-team football and scouting, has decided to leave Werder on 1st July. The Green-White’s former captain, who won the double in 2004 and the DFB Cup in 2009, has been part of the Werder management team since the year of his retirement. The honorary team captain said goodbye to his fellow workers and colleagues on Friday. WERDER.DE wants to thank “Baumi” for his great time at the club and wishes him all the best for the future! +++
