Bad news for Werder Bremen as attacking talent Keke Topp sustained an ankle injury during Wednesday’s training session. Following examinations carried out by team doctor Dr. Georg Tsironis, it is clear that the centre forward has torn his Syndesmosis ligament. The summer signing will now travel to Berlin in order to undergo surgery on Friday.

“It’s a tough pill to swallow for the team and even more so for Keke himself, because he had been on an upward trend of late. We will support him in any way we can so that his rehabilitation happens as quickly and as successfully as possible. The hope is to have Keke back with us from February,” explained head coach Ole Werner.
