SV Werder Bremen have unveiled another new signing, as Senne Lynen becomes the latest player to sport the Green-White’s jersey. The midfielder joins from Royal Union Saint Gilloise. Both teams have chosen to keep the terms of the deal undisclosed.

“We’re extremely happy that Senne has decided to join Werder. We’ve been following his progress for quite some time. He’s got a lot of experience already. He won the Belgian second division with Gilloise and played in the Europa League,” commented Clemens Fritz, head of professional football.

Werder’s head coach, Ole Werner, is looking forward to working with the 24 year-old. “We’ve been watching Senne for a while. He’s a physical player with good vision. Playing in defensive midfield really allows him to play to his strengths and bring some stability to a game.”

“I’m really excited to play for Werder in the Bundesliga. Werder are a huge team who are also popular in Belgium. The Bundesliga is one of the best leagues in the world. I’m looking forward to joining up with the club, coming to the city, and playing my first game at the ground. I’ve heard that there’s a special atmosphere at home games,” said Senne Lynen ahead of the switch to his new club.

Senne Lynen began his career at Borsbeek Sport. He made his way to Club Brugge following youth team stints at Royal Antwerp, KVC Westerloh and Lierse SK. After a loan spell at SC Telstar, he moved to Royal Union Saint Gilloise in 2020. In total, Lynen made 44 appearances in the Belgian top division, along with 63 games in the second tier and 10 in the Europa League.
