Numerous Werder players are returning to training this week ahead of Saturday’s clash with Borussia Mönchengladbach at the wohninvest WESERSTADION (18:30 CEST). Leonardo Bittencourt, who has spent several weeks on the sidelines due to a rib injury, is expected to return to team training. The same goes for Dikeni Salifou, who will take part in team training for the first time since pre-season. Benjamin Goller, on the other hand, is out due to illness, whereas Manuel Mbom is continuing to train individually.

Marco Friedl and Romano Schmid are back in Bremen and are expected to complete parts of Tuesday’s training. Ilia Gruev, who started for Bulgaria against North Macedonia on Monday night, isn’t expected to be back in training until Wednesday. Fabio Chiarodia, Jiri Pavlenka and Milos Veljkovic are still away with their respective national teams and will be back in Bremen by the end of the week.
