While his teammates are on holiday resting, Amos Pieper will be working hard on his comeback in the wohninvest WESERSTADION. After an ankle operation in the middle of May, the 25-year-old gave a positive update on his recovery journey. “We are confident that I can be back for the pre-season preparations,” revealed Pieper, who is also going on holiday in the meantime but will return to Bremen before the start of training. “That depends on the coming weeks, though.”

Amos Pieper is in high spirits and his injury complaints are over. It has been a difficult period for the centre-back for a long time. On the one hand, Pieper desperately wanted to help the team, but on the other, he knew that only surgery would bring him back to 100 percent. Before that, the new signing looked back on a successful debut season at SV Werder. “I couldn’t have imagined my first year here any better,” said Pieper happily. “I really got into the team and the system, in which there is a lot of emphasis on the football.”

When the U21 European champion was not absent due to injury or suspension, he was regularly on the pitch and usually in the starting eleven. Pieper was playing in the games that will be remembered both by him and by all Werder fans. “There were many games in which the fans led us,” he revealed. “When we won in Dortmund, it was incredible; there was no Werder fan still seated. At the away game in Berlin, the fans gave us a very special support, and we also played well. Those are moments that stay with you.”

At the same time, Pieper explained why the Green-Whites have some work ahead of them after the summer break. “We also have to be aware that not everything was good,” he warned, having already experienced relegation from the Bundesliga with Arminia Bielefeld. “Our mindset, however, is that we would have taken a season like this beforehand, but our performance (especially in the second half of the season) was often not reflected in points. For us, it’s important to look at what the missing pieces are in order to turn those close games in our favour.”
