3-3 against Aston Villa

Werder Bremen offered up a very entertaining football match for their supporters on the Day of the Fans 2012 with a 3-3 draw against English Premer League side Aston Villa. Niclas Füllkrug, Eljero Elia and Aaron Hunt scored for the Green-Whites, who were the better team in the second half but could not win the game in front of 22,800 spectators at Weser Stadium.

Aston Villa equalises Füllkrug's goal

Werder jumped ahead after 11 minutes as Zlatko Junuzovic played a fine ball into the middle where Füllkrug headed in to make it 1-0. Aston Villa equalised just five minutes later with a counter attack through Darren Bent. And the English moved ahead 2-1 in the 23rd minute with Ciaran Clark striking home after Bremen could not clear a free kick. Hunt hit the post twice over the remainder of the first half, which ended with Aston Villa ahead 2-1.

Werder knotted the game 2-2 in the 50th minute as a cross from Eljero Elia landed in the Villa net. Bremen fell behind again after 69 minutes 3-2 on another goal by Bent. But the Green-Whites did not want to end the Day of the Fans 2012 as losers and grabbed the equaliser 3-3 in the 71st minute as Hunt finally found the back of the net with a low shot after a deflected pass.
