That's a start! Werder won their first test match of the season against a selection team from East Friesland. Head coach Thomas Schaaf's team won 13-1 on Wednesday on the An der Mühle grounds - SVW's training grounds on Norderney. It was the first test for the Green-Whites and at the same time a debut for many newcomers. Nils Petersen started the game while Theodor Gebre Selassie came on after 30 minutes and was replaced after 60 minutes by Eljero Elia.

As expected, the Green-Whites dominated the match and dictated the action from the first minute on. The top scorers were Niklas Füllkrug (4 goals), Denni Avdic (3 goals) and Nils Petersen (2 goals).
