Chilly weather welcomed both teams during their walk-in at Eintracht Stadium Friday night.

In the international week, Werder Bremen lost their test match against second division Eintracht Braunschweig 2-1 Friday night 11 November 2011. The Green-Whites presented two entirely different faces during the 90 minutes. Despite the fact that all three goals were scored in the first half, the second half proved much more interesting. The lethargic Werder side from the first half came out of their funk in the second half and created a number of chances. But Bremen were unable to score the equaliser.

After mistakes in the defence, Thomas Schaaf's team fell behind 2-0 after 35 minutes on two goals by Edwini Bonsu (25th and 35th). Werder pulled a goal back five minutes before the break as Mehmet Ekici passed to Sandro Wagner, who turned and superbly struck the ball into the right corner to make it 2-1. The goal gave the Green-Whites hope for the second half but they could not score again and had to settle for a 2-1 defeat.
