Tom Trybull in action.Shortly thereafter Sebastian Prödl was kicked in the face in the box and had to be substituted out for Mikael Silvestre in the 28th minute. But referee Robert Hartmann did not point to the spot. Despite the injury to Prödl, Werder were the better side. Still, Bremen were fortunate that keeper Tim Wiese was able to deflect off the post Florian Dick's free kick in the 45th minute. And the game was deadlocked 0-0 at halftime.
The game remained hard-fought in the second half. Werder were once again lucky after 58 minutes as Pierre de Wit's long blast struck the crossbar. Claudio Pizarro (62nd and 79th) and Rosenberg (69th) both missed chances to push Werder ahead. And in the end it was deserved split of the spoils between Kaiserslautern and the Green-Whites.
