An exciting start to the year for U23 attacker Justin Njinmah. The 21-year-old, who has made 14 appearances for SVW II in the Regionalliga, has signed his first professional contract for the Green-Whites. The striker will now head out on loan until the end of the 2022/23 season to Borussia Dortmund’s reserves, hunting for goals in the 3. Liga.

“Justin has had a great season so far. He has continuously proved his quality and, above all, his danger in front of goal in the Regionalliga. We’ve put our trust in him to make the step up to our first team one day. Moving up to the 3. Liga now will give him a good opportunity to gain match practice at a higher level,” explained Clemens Fritz, head of professional football and scouting.

“I’m delighted with the trust Werder have put in me with this new contract. I think it’s a dream for every young player to sign their first professional contract. That said, I’m aware that this is only a small first step and there is still a long road ahead of me. I think my move to the 3. Liga will be a chance, but more importantly a big challenge for myself to keep developing as a player and then bring my experience back to Werder,” said Justin Njinmah.

Njinmah moved to Werder Bremen in summer 2021 from Holstein Kiel. Since the move, he has scored 14 goals in 18 Regionalliga games for Werder’s reserve side.
