Head coach Thomas Schaaf must make due without a number of international players over the next few days but he welcomed a new face to training Tuesday morning as the 17-year-old Senegalese Mor Pouye took part in practice. "He is a very young lad and we want to get an impression of him over the next few days," said Schaaf about the midfielder.

Pouye trained last year with Italian second division side Novara Calcio, where former Werder player Daniel Jensen is currently playing. The Dakar native followed his parents from western Africa to Italy four years ago and still does not have a professional contract. Schaaf would not say how long the 17-year-old will train in Bremen or if he will play in the test matches in Heiligenfelde or against Dynamo Kiev. "He is just here for the moment and will practice with the team. Everything else will work itself out over the coming days," said the coach.

One of the 14 players who took part in the first training session of the week had to leave the pitch early. Captain Clemens Fritz left the training grounds after about half an hour with adductors problems. "I felt a pull when I crossed a ball and left training as a precaution," said Fritz, who received treatment from Dr. Götz Dimanski afterwards. There has not been a diagnosis about the extent of the injury. "I have another treatment today and have to wait and see how it develops," said the 31-year-old Fritz.
