Werder's 3-1 defeat at FC Augsburg still irritated the Green-Whites Saturday morning. How could that be any different as there were so many unsatisfactory issues from the game at the SGL Arena in Augsburg? "Many situations always go through my head after these kinds of games, so I slept poorly. The disappointment was huge," admitted captain Clemens Fritz. Klaus Allofs was also unsatisfied Friday night. "We went to Augsburg to pick up three points but we were never really close to our chances. In the Bundesliga, you can only win matches when you are totally concentrated and prepared to give your all. Neither of those things were there," said the manager. "We were so far from our potential, I never would have thought that was possible. Therefore we are disappointed about everything we saw from the first to last minute."
Considering the performance and the 3-1 defeat, the up-coming national team break came at a bad time for the Green-Whites, 14 of whom will be travelling with their national teams. "Preferably I would pack up all the players and not let them leave. How we played, we cannot accept that," said Allofs. The players must now wait two weeks to make good their problems before the league continues with a home match against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
