Eljero Elia, here in a challenge with Toni Kroos, raced up and down the left side but not with much success.

A double strike in the final 10 minutes beat down any hopes Werder had of gaining points as a dream goal by Luiz Gustavo and a counter attack score by Mario Mandzukic left the Green-Whites empty handed after a strong performance over 80 minutes.

WERDER.DE collected reaction after the game:

Clemens Fritz: "That is bitter because we wanted to take something home with us. In the first half we were too timid, but we were better in the second half. It's too bad that it worked until the 80th minute and then no longer. We should have played more courageous up front to give some relief to the defence. We could not do that."

Sokratis: "That was a very difficult match. You cannot play really offensively against Bayern. We did that well, the tactics were perfect. Congratulations to the team for that. Of course it's unlucky that we conceded a goal in the 81st minute. After that it was very difficult for us."

Klaus Allofs: "I don't think it's that brutal. We didn't play that well up front. Bayern were the better team, and if you want to beat them, everything must work. Of course you wish that the team can be carried by dedication and excitement. But that wasn't enough today. Bayern were at another level."

Thomas Schaaf: "We held our won against an absolutely top team. If you do a lot of things well over 80 minutes, then you hope for it over 90 minutes as well. But in the odd situation I was hoping for more courage, confidence or conviction. We also must be calmer in our actions in attack. But we are not yet able to do so. We need to learn things from this. Then we can achieve more."

Eljero Elia: "I had the feeling that we lost today because we didn't believe in our game enough. If we would have done that, we could have gotten a point."

Sebastian Prödl: "The coach told us that we should play with a free mind. We certainly did not do that to 100 percent."

Zlatko Junuzovic: "We were lacking the focus and courage in our attack. In that manner, you can only win points if you don't concede goals. But we could not prevent that."
