Werder's trio of Marko Arnautovic, Sebastian Prödl and Zlatko Junuzovic will not be the only Austrian internationals on the pitch when Bremen take on VfB Stuttgart on Sunday 23 September 2012 at 5:30 p.m. A fourth Austrian, Martin Harnik, will be playing for Stuttgart - and also making his return to his former club.
The 25-year-old Harnik played four years in Bremen, leaving northern Germany for Stuttgart in 2010. But Harnik knows his three Austrian compatriots quite well as the quartet has played together in the Austrian national team for many years - most recently in the World Cup qualification match against Germany. And while they play well together at national team matches, they will be opponents on Sunday. The match also has a special meaning for the Bremen trio.
"Of course we want to aggravate Martin a little. He will certainly be highly motivated and will want to score a goal. But we will not allow that," said Junuzovic. Prödl is well aware of Harnik's scoring qualities. "He is a very dangerous striker," warned the Bremen center back. "We have to pay very special attention to him. He is a key player for the Stuttgart team," said Prödl, who also played with Harnik with Werder. "I am looking forward to him being back. He had a special time here," said Prödl. But the defender will not have any presents for his former teammate. "We want to win tomorrow," said Prödl. Werder head coach
Thomas Schaaf will call on the following 18 Werder players for the game against Stuttgart: Mielitz, Wolf - Gebre Selassie, Prödl, Sokratis, Lukimya, Ignjovski, Schmitz, Fritz, Bargfrede, Junuzovic, De Bruyne, Hunt, Elia, Arnautovic, Petersen, Akpala, Füllkrug.
