Zlatko Junuzovic scored after an assist by Marko Arnautovic in Austria’s 2-1 loss against Germany.
Werder Bremen's three Austrians played well in their country's World Cup qualifier against neighbours Germany - a 2-1 loss at home. Zlatko Junuzovic scored on an assist from Bremen teammate Marko Arnautovic as Austria pulled a goal back to make it 2-1. Arnautovic even had a chance shortly before the end of the game to equalise. Just like Arnautovic and Junuzovic, the third Werder Austrian Sebastian Prödl also played the full 90 minutes.

The hosts had a good start in front of 47,000 spectators at sold-out Ernst Happel Stadium and were the better team over long stretches of the contest. Marco Reus scored in the 45th minute to give Germany the lead and then Mesut Özil converted a penalty after 52 minutes for a 2-0 advantage. Junuzovic made it 2-1 in the 57th minute for Austria.

Germany lead their World Cup qualifying group with six points from two victories while Austria are fourth with zero points from just one match.
