Cup follow-up without Elia

Head coach Thomas Schaaf could not say on Monday how long Elia would be out. "I hope that Eljero will be back for us quickly. But we have to wait and see how long it takes now," said the Werder coach, who is dealing with his team after their first round exit from the German DFB Cup with a 4-2 loss against Preußen Münster. "We could not put out the opponents' fire with a third goal. As a team, we made mistakes both offensively and defensively. We have to keep up and not get down and continue to work on things," said Schaaf after the second first round exit in a row.
Nils Petersen also had an uncomfortable night afterwards. "I slept really bad. You cannot just forget about a game that quickly. It's so easy in this competition, unlike anywhere else, to qualify for Europe. That is bitter," said the 23-year-old on Monday. But Petersen does not think the Green-Whites will need a long time to return to success. "We will not hang our heads. We will pick ourselves up as a team. We have the right kind of guys in the team. We should use some success in the Bundesliga to get back into a good mood. At best, starting in Dortmund."
