Sandro Wagner practiced Friday morning with the professionals. Now the striker will keep fit with the U23s.
Striker Sandro Wagner, who was on loan to Bundesliga competitors Kaiserslautern for the second half of last season, will now train with Werder's U23s. Head coach Thomas Schaaf confirmed that after a talk with the 24-year-old.

Wagner went through training in the morning with his Bundesliga teammates but manager Klaus Allofs has already said there are no perspectives for the forward in the professional side. "We have given him a clear signal in the last couple weeks that we are not planning with him. Until now, there has not been any interest in him. As long as he is under contract with us, he has the right to train with us. And we will definitely uphold that. It makes sense to integrate him into the U23 team," said Allofs.

Wagner came to Werder in January 2010 from second division side Duisburg and then recovered from a torn ACL. After his comeback, he played 36 Bundesliga matches with five goals and 18 games with the U23s with seven goals.
